January Random

New year and new events! Levi is now in primary and is a big boy with "my brothers."  I also love trying to match my Ruby girl (or Austin with his suspenders).  the boys tried to dye their hair in Kool-Aid unsuscessfully.  Levi and Jared are twins too...snapped that pic while Levi was saying a prayer.  The boys come with me to YMCA cycle class every now and then, sometimes rotating running with Jared on the off days (or doing weights too).  Other pics of Wes doing chores,  wrestling with all 5 kids, Jared's interview in Utah (boo hoo), naps, pizza and picnics, bath time and oreos.

Fixing up some furniture

Now that we are staying put for a while, and to relieve some stress from the "not moving" experience to Utah, I started transformations on our furniture! It started out with a post I saw on line of someone re-doing their kitchen tables with some oil cloth...I decided I could do the same thing! So, I re-painted each one with chalk paint, then I did a grey steel wool/vinegar stain for the table top. I LOVE how it turned out, and Jared helped me staple up the fabric. I borrowed a sander from my neighbor Pam Peters and then got to work on my piano. All of this while babysitting extra kids, doing dinner group, working out, maintaining the family life, etc. But, with going to bed late and getting up early, I was able to do it. It sure was a disaster with flecks of wood and sand everywhere in my house, but I was determined to get it done! Ruby was crawling into everything, so there wasn't much time. The piano turned out beautiful, as scary as that was (not wanting to ruin the keys), and next was the desk I bought on craigslist and chair. I am really happy with how it all turned out. I also did a little sewing project (buttonholes were also scary) for our dish towels.
