Grandma Joy and Grandpa Ken Moore spoiled us by inviting us to visit them at their cabin and take us to Yellowstone. I knew that she was awesome when she pulled over to the store to buy all my kids their own treats (they are so used to sharing their treats with each other and not getting them very often), it was really fun for them. I want to be like that when I am a grandma! We spent the entire day traveling to/from Yellowstone, so the kids were pretty tired of the car by the end of the day. We only spent the day there. After the 4 hour drive to Old Faithful, which lasted less than 5 minutes, we went to the Gift Shop where the kids picked out something for $10 (gift from Gma Joy). That was an experience as each kid had a hard time picking something out, even sending my dear Wes into a fit bc we wouldn't let him buy a $30 pocketwatch (not practical!) We are learning how to handle his emotions, even if it means putting him in the double stroller as a time out. Kind of embarrassing at times to see his behavior like a tantrum of a toddler, but I guess people understand that 12-year-olds are unexplainable. We didn't see any wildlife like we wanted, just the buffalo herd from a distance (they looked like cows), but against the Grand Tetons, it was still amazing. The geysers (hot tubs as Ruby called them, and smelled like toots according to Levi) We packed a picnic and the Moore's were great tour guides for our short visit. We hit up Dairy Queen in Jackson Hole to treat them to dinner and decided NOT to return when we got back to the cabin. We had had enough of Yellowstone with all the kids in tow (and they even drove in Gpa Kenney's truck). Such beautiful scenery and landscape, definitely something I would want to explore with older kids or as adults.
