Bees in the Attic!

The Bees from our attic!  Over 10,000 bees were discovered one hot Saturday afternoon. Jared climbed up and saw this large mass of blackness swarming in our attic. We had had them over a year and didn't even know it. We had seen some dead bees inside light fixtures upstairs, and then saw some bees trying to get inside our roof from our street view. We were kinda of freaking out, not wanting to spend $1500 to get them removed by exterminators. I last minute posted an ad on Craigslist saying, "10,000 bees in our attic. Come get the free honey!" It worked! We were contacted that day and saved.
It took all afternoon, but they were vacuumed up. What a mess it made with all the honeycomb, insulation from the attic, bees and flies in my home and dirt everywhere. I felt like we were part of a Discovery Channel or something with how much we learned about the bee and honey making. What an answer to our prayers about figuring out a solution to this epidemic. Once the honey drained out of the cooler, it was pretty cool to taste it warm and knowing that it was from our own backyard. Neighbors were all wanting to witness the experience and for some reason, we weren't afraid of letting even our smallest kids near the swarming bees. They wanted inside that cage to be with the queen! Amazing experience.

Easter

A fun Easter this year! We were happy to celebrate it with a fun potluck picnic at the park with friends. We had a yummy spread and then an egg hunt. The boys loved hiding the eggs and then finding them again. The next day we went to Uncle Harvey and Aunt Pam's for their family Easter party.  More BBQ and egg hunting. They were thrilled with their "jackpot" of chips, soda and big candy bars to take home. The following day was Easter. I got up early to make cinnamon rolls, and we watched church bible videos on Easter and the resurrection. We hid their baskets (recylced candy, sunglasses, and new belts). We also had Trista/Mike Stanely and my dad over for Easter dinner. Shredded ham cooked in vinegar, homemade rolls, jell-o, potatoes and ice cream brownie cake. The boys love the sugar of Easter, but they also know the real purpose and meaning behind it all, which is the best sugar their is.

Busy big boy Levi

Where to start with our busy boy? Climbing everywhere, demanding to be held, chasing after his brothers, pushing stools into the pantry, turning on faucets to flood the kitchen, emptying the dirty dishwasher (and turning it on), crying for his "shooos!" whenever Jared is leaving for work (wanting to go with him), playing in toilets, refusing his high chair and giving us wet kisses. Oh how we love our boy.
