Patriot Point, NC. We took the day off to go exploring with the Trosts and Ashton's. It. Was. Awesome. The weather felt like a steamy hot jungle, but well worth it. The first exhibit was of the Vietnam War and displayed many tanks, nurse stations, videos, weapons, and medals of that event. It was hard to see such cruelty going on and how hard war is. We then boarded a submarine where it was very chlostrophobic! (Ruby of course pooped while in there, stinky!) The living quarters were so small, it was amazing to think about people actually surviving for long months at a time there and defending us. The kitchen, lockers, toilet... all felt like a barbie house! We then boarded a larger vessel and learned about some of the sacrifices and history of those soldiers. It was hard to comprehend everything b/c we were constantly keeping watch for our kids running around. We then boarded the largest vessel. It had full airplanes and helicopters, with other vehicles on the top deck! It was HUGE, felt like we were not floating in the water but walking in a mini city. There was a cool Museum of Medals of Honor that everyone appreciated looking at. Such patriotism for our country, it felt so gratifying seeing our country and soldiers being honored.
