My favorite place I have visited so far, Wormsloe Historic Plantation. The reverence, the beauty, the mysterious trees, the history, the vast space of land, and all of the workmanship (building homes out of seashells). The boys were a bit rambunctious (wanting to throw footballs around, climb on the Tabby Ruins, go into the marshlands for lost flip flops), so the Park Ranger was probably annoyed by us. Things went well until poor Millie and Ruby got bitten by some nasty black ants in a hill, immediately swelling up on their legs! We decided it was time to head back, especially b/c our rations were gone (snacks and water). We took a WRONG turn! It ended up being a 3 mile "hike" back to the visitor's center, which we didn't know! An 1.5 hr later of pulling a wagon in flip flops through lots of trails, hungry and tired children, poopy diapers...you name it. It was rough! We got lost and had to say a prayer! There weren't good visual signs or maps leading us back, so it was a bit stressful. We laughed through most of it and just kept rotating children from wagon to piggy back to stroller. We felt like modern day pioneer women! I still loved it. Will go back for family pictures!

Pirate House and River Walk
Pirate house restaurant! Ahoy! "Me" family went to eat some "Po Boy" food; gumbo, cheese biscuits, salmon, gater nuggets, and cajun fries. I loved the children's menu with all the gettup! I guess this house was where Captain Morgan, from Treasure Island supposedly died, in a tavern in Savannah. There are hidden tunnels underneath from where they used to bring in the booty from the sea. The food was decent, the waiter very friendly, and we had to help clean up the HUGE mess that 10 kids make in a small room (especially Ruby spilling water and bread everywhere). Literally, I swept it up with a broom and left a large tip. Watching Ruby walk on the cobblestone sidewalks was great. We then headed to the River Walk and enjoyed some local music, praline clusters (heavenly!), children begging for 5 lb gummy bears, and going up and down scary, steep, old stairways!

Skidaway Island Park
Another Georgia State Park! Shelley and I took the crew out to Skidaway Island State Park. They had a reptile room with baby gaters, snakes, cockroaches, turtles and frogs. The boys loved touching them. We learned about a dinosaur Skidaway Sloth! Can you imagine seeing that in real life! The park itself was a bit dry and hot. The boys drank all of our water and ate all the snacks within minutes! Ruby is still learning to walk, so it's fun to see her slide around the floor and walk up to the displays. Really cool to see the swamplands of Savannah.
