Fort Jackson and John the Baptist Cathedral

Fort Jackson! Our first experience in a fort, so we were still figuring out the details about the war and which sides were fighting. The building was SO cool to see, very old and detailed. They even blew off a real cannon for the boys to watch! They had a fun "soldier" help teach the boys how to load the cannon, fire rifles, and act like they were soldiers protecting the fort. The cannons were so large and heavy, I can't imagine having to lug those around and be in war. We then headed to the Cathedral downtown that I wanted to explore. The boys were reverent, had some good questions about the saints and candle vigils, holy water and statues of Christ. Afterwards we went outside so Shelley could feed Collin and Ruby could take some steps in the plaza with the Spanish Moss. A good day!

Playing with the locals

What's really cool about Georgia, is how friendly the locals are! Especially when it comes to sports! When we head out to parks, it is so easy to start up a game of basketball or football, I think my boys are surprised each time. I like it.  Ruby also had a fun time playing with some cute toddler girls, as diverse as they were I had to take a picture! We enjoyed a fiesta for Cinco de Mayo with our small ward, and the boys LOVED that. Isaac keeps asking if we can have another party like that each week we go to the church! Wes has had some cool experiences being in YM here (at age 11 he goes early since the program is so small). He went on a 20 mile hike to Tybee Island, did a bball tournament (he was so excited about that one, spiky hair had to happen), and even hot dogs were involved. I am so grateful for any active experiences that my boys can get out and have fun!

Frogging and Mud

Boys will be boys. Mud will be on shoes. Frogs will be in pockets. This will be my summer.
