Tybee Island and Hilton Head are the two main beaches here in Savannah (or South Carolina). Shelley and I have been loading up our crew and going on adventures weekly since we got out here. Tybee is more like a lake with calm waters and more fish animals to discover; jellyfish, dolphins, crabs, sea slugs and fish. The tide pools are fun to play in and the water is really warm. You have to pay for parking ($2 an hour or you get a parking ticket like me!), but it is only 45 min away.
Hilton head, S.C. has larger waves and bigger crowds, about 1.25 hrs away. The boys love crashing into the waves and always get sunburned. We really appreciate the showers there afterwards (none at Tybee). We learned quickly how fast the tide comes up at Hilton Head, after ALL of our things got drenched (including baby Collin!) The beach never gets old! The kids really enjoy themselves, so despite all of the gross sand everywhere, we do the adventure!
