Bonaventure Cemetary and Fort Pulaski

More Saturday adventures with our crew of children! On our way to Fort Pulaski, we went by Bonaventure Cemetery. I knew that there were some famous and historic people buried there, not to mention the beauty and eerie feeling that is there. The trees, gravestones, burial plots, dedications and monuments are very impressive. The kids were a little bored, but Shelley and I loved looking and reading about the people! Little Gracie was a 6 year old who died 200 years ago from pneumonia,  or Savannah's fastest female racer. Wesley had his nickname, as well as another memorial named after him ("RIP little Dude" as Bret Pearce later said).  After some lunch, more time outs and diaper changes...off we went to Fort Pulaski. We arrived just in time for a cannon shooting, which was once again really awesome. Poor Levi kept saying how scared he was for the sound! The boys ran wild as Shelley and I debriefed a soldier about some basic civil war history 101. We drove to Tybee Island to check out the lighthouse (it was $10 a person to climb it), where we snapped a picture and then headed to the beach. We didn't have any towels, swimsuits for me/Shelley, food or water... but we still went to the beach! Crazy people! It was a sandy mess and I lost my patience waiting for the boys to get into the car. Glad they had fun, but my car looks like a sandy beach now! NO way to rinse off! We headed back, had ravioli and watched a movie.
