80's on 8

Day #7

Grateful list:

*Belting my lungs out to some fun 80's music on the way to pick up Jared at the airport
* Sweet grandpa Lowe for watching my boys so I could go ALONE to get Jared
*Gatorade at Wesley's sweaty t-ball game
*Return policies at Marshall's and Hobby Lobby (in store credit is O.K. by me!)
*Open windows at nighttime to cool off my house
*Jared! Two more days to be together!

7 kids and 2 adults

Day #6
I am grateful for:
* Red Robin steak fries and ranch dipping sauce, thus the "7 kids and 2 adults" phrase as April Ashton and I sat there and enjoyed a spontaneous dinner together.
*Broccoli, my boys love you!
*Fun, trendy, attractive clothing borrowed from April's closet for my upcoming family pictures.
*Pack 'n plays, which allow little Isaac to take naps in whatever closet he needs and in whichever house he is in.
*Reading "The Crippled Lamb" to my boys at bedtime and feeling their sympathy for the oveja.

Grateful list...

As I am blog hopping tonight, a bunch of girls have started a list of "I am grateful for..." for this entire month. I want to join the band wagon! It will be good for me to see those blessings too...

Day Five:
* Austin took a 30 min. well needed (and RARE) nap after getting up before 6am. He came downstairs refreshed, had changed into his pj's and was mild tempered.
* Leslie Boley and her help in hanging up some heavy frames and mirrors. Way to wing it with me, and for browsing through my blurb book.
* Multi grain pancakes with homemade syrup for lunch....whole wheat pasta and veggies for dinner....don't cook often, but today it made me happy!
*Helping Wesley write his sight words for homework in peace and quiet (while the boys napped).
*Chit Chatting with other t-ball mom's and enjoying the socialization.
*Secured a date for a family photo shoot

Day Four:
*The gym, where I have a few "regulars" that now come to my On the Ball class.
* Eating my 100 calorie kettle corn popcorn while watching, "The Biggest Loser."
*Isaac's big brown eyes as he nurses and loves on me.
*Jared's honesty.
*A clean (3x's) and waxed truck, Cobblestone better do better next time.

Day Three:
*T-ball practice that made Wesley sweat and smile and squeal. He loved playing, "cat and mouse" and I loved watching him be so happy.
*Internet! I am connected again.
*The return policy at the HomeGoods store, got some in store credit to spend!
*Hulu.com I love watching episodes on-line without commercials.

Day Two:
*Being able to finally leave behind the custom home for good, after drilling on hardware and washing the renters' windows.
*A clean and organized garage.
*Red Box; enjoying "The Proposal" while snuggling up with Jared, our weekly date on our sofa.
*Eating pumpkin cake with sweaty children running outside.

(Sunday, November 1st) Day One:
*Released from my nursery calling, after 8 months....don't judge me!
*Having Isaac sleep soundly so I could attend Relief Society and actually listen (a great lesson on gossip...such an important thing to remember).
*A HOT shower that steams up within 2 minutes.
*Freshly trimmed little boy fingernails.

Halloween

Austin had a fun Halloween Carnival at preschool, where he dressed up as Cpt. Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean). He was too timid to try out the bobbing for apples, but he had a great time gathering up the candy and tasting the cupcakes!

The trunk or treat at the church was enjoyable. I felt a little strange being there without Jared, and especially wearing the "Red Hat Lady" attire that I had on. But, what a better place to be at for immediate candy results! The chili cook off was tasty and Grandpa Lowe kept us company as we roamed around in the dark parking lot. Wesley was Darth Vader, Austin Cpt. Sparrow and Isaac a pumpkin. Maybe next year we could all go as a theme for our family. I hope Jared will be around next year to enjoy his boys' dress up (and I can eat his candy!)

Halloween was spent with the Boley's, chili, cornbread and lots of candy. Wesley chose to be black Spiderman (vs. Darth Vader, so he could see better without a dark mask), and Austin was Batman (vs. Cpt Sparrow).

We gave our candy away to my orthodontist where he will donate the candy to the troops in Iraq. The boys collected 10 bucks too! We went to Fry's grocery and they each bought a toy. (I secretly stashed away my favorite chocolate bars and they each chose 10 candies to eat later).

New Home

Internet is up, toilets are flushing, pictures are hung, and garage is unpacked. Been 5 days and doing well.

I think this time around was not as stressful as other moves we have had. I guess I need to be counting my blessings (and good friends the Boley's, Darbie and Ashton's) for the smooth transition that this whole process was. Looking at the facts, you would think that I would've gone crazy:

*Carrying out mom duties with 3 little kids; 5,4,9 months
*1 week to pack up our 3200 sq ft home, Jared was in California so I did it by myself
*2 days of cleaning the custom home (blinds, floors, windows, etc)
*PURGE PURGE PURGE more "stuff"
*2 days to unload large furniture into a 1500 sq ft home, Jared goes back to Cali
*5 days of straight unpacking, deep cleaning everything (thanks Leslie! You are so good to me for scubbing out the nasties of the people before me in those bathrooms!), and organizing the closets and pantry.
*2 days of more "throwing out" as we go from a 3 car oversized garage to our humble 2 car smaller garage, Jared is here to help with his great skills and cousin Tim's generous time.

It feels great to be connected again on-line, we all have allergies and coughs, and we are doing just fine. I cried this morning as Jared left once again for California. I miss him so much, especially as we are trying once again to have a "home" and make the transition smooth. I want to share this place with him and not feel like he is missing out on our lives here as a family.

Isaac is crawling everywhere and pulling himself up onto things and has started sticking out his tonuge. Austin is loving the movie, "Mr. Mom," is finding matching words with sounds, "Leslie/Wesley, or Snake/Sryup" and has a nasty dry cough that wakes him up at night time. Wesley can tie his shoes, is learning how to ride a bike without training wheels, won 3rd place in a coloring contest, and starts up his first season of t-ball tonight!

This house is simple, clean and feels safe. I am getting used to a two story house once again (it's been 3 years since we last had one). It's hard to catch my cell phone when it is downstairs and I am upstairs. Everytime I go upstairs, I try to take something with me so I don't have to make any extra trips up and down. It is a work out! I can already see myself piling things at the bottom of the stairs, and laundry better get upstairs right away or it may stay forever on my sofa.

Isaac is loving those stairs and I have to be vigilant with the gate or he will fall down! The heat sure does rise in the second story as well, especially b/c the highs are still in the 90's here (makes it HOT for bike rides in the afternoon!). I am not used to having neighbor's or homes nearby. I would love for my boys to make some friends nearby, so I guess we'll just wait and see. We are in the same church ward and school, so that was an easy switch.

We are very happy to have a little grass in the backyard for Wrangler, and I am 5 minutes closer to the gym and Wesley's school. There's definitely less room for storing food and places for Grandpa Lowe to sleep, but I have simplified a lot so that most of my kitchen items are still in boxes in the garage until our rent is up and we move again.

Not sure how long we will be here, when we can make a career move, or where I will be in a year from now...but, I do have a roof over my head and I know that my role is very important as supportive wife and loving mama. Gotta keep a good attitude!

Arizona state Fair

We had a great time this weekend with Nikki/Mike Thrower and April/Dustin Ashton. Funnel cake, big slides, a scary ferris wheel, holding hands and walking in heels all night long...doesn't get better than that! I can't believe the size of those animals that we saw....a GIGANTIC pig that looked like a horse, and a crocodile 12 feet long. I feel bad for those sweet animals all caged up...but, hopefully they can go home and enjoy a few months vacation from the schedule.

We went to the fair in Gaithersburg, MD last year, but this was so different b/c it was at nighttime and we were able to enjoy the atmosphere as a couple vs. family. We chose not to waste our money on the cheesy rides, but I can see where a lot of people could enjoy those cheap thrills!
