Pics from January

A few pics from January:

Some really great work that Wesley has done in school:

Every time Wesley gets put on "yellow" in school, he has to write an apology letter to his teacher. He really wants to be student of the month...just maybe he'll get it?

This is my typical weekend morning...bathrobe, 64 degree kitchen and getting breakfast ready for kids. Austin wanted to take a picture.
Really? Did you pick a winner?
Isaac's new b-day present from Gpa Lowe...he loves to shoot the hoops.
Isaac had this cheesy grin minutes as he climbed up, got his own bowl and filled it with grapes...which he seconds later dumped down the drain.
Learning to pray. He folds his arms whenever he wants to, even during the middle of dinner. We all have to follow along and wait 'til he says his own 'Amen.'
Wesley got Straight A's for the 2nd Quarter. Way to go Wes!
I love going to the assembly as his mom, and not just as Mrs. Wilson.
April's baby shower!

1/2 Marathon

By now you know that I am in NO running shape. But, my sweetheart on the other hand is a real winner! He ran the Surprise 1/2 Marathon and placed 5th in his category! There were about 300 racers overall and he finished in 1.49.00. I was so proud of him, especially finishing so strong after only a few shorter runs in the previous months. I can't wait for NEXT YEAR b/c that will be my turn to run! I had been running up to 10 miles before I got prego, so I felt like I was in good running condition...yet, it was my hubby and good friends who were able to compete!

We took some good pics along the trail, even getting in trouble by a cop for pulling over in the middle of the road. A big no no!

Jared's favorite part was seeing his boys come running towards him as he crossed the finished line, saying that it almost made him cry. I love that rush of emotions as you finish any race, and how GOOD it feels to have done your best and finish strong!

We are all very proud of you Jared!

Please run alongside me next year!

15 things you don't know about me

15 things you don't know about me...or maybe might...but, will be fun to learn:

1. I love to slurp my yogurt, soup and gulp down my water. Drives my husband crazy, so I do it when I am alone.

2. I wear earplugs to bed to drown out the noises of the night (including Jared getting ready for bed, the neighbor's outside, or dishwasher).

3. I love to match my eyeshadow to whatever outfit I am wearing. A few favorite shades; orange, turquoise, yellow, smokey gray, apple green or purple.

4. I asked my dad and he said, "I have a little opportunist streak. It's rare that I admit to errors, or openly say, 'I made a mistake.' I have a love for certain foods, like donuts. I appreciate refinement; meaning of high quality and good taste. For example, stylish as a person vs being careless about my manner of dress or environment." Good thoughts Gpa Lowe.

5. In my dreams, I sometimes go back to my mission in Argentina and think of how different I would handle being a missionary...usually waking up so grateful to NOT be a missionary again.

6. I surf the web and check email during my school day...even with students at my desk. I love G-chat and use it daily to connect with friends. I am only human! I need a sanity break too!

7. I LOVE caramel anything. Period.

8. I have kept a journal for 21 years...writing in it at least once a month. It was daily for over 10 years, up until I got back from my mission. I find writing to be very therapeutic for me. I haven't gone back and really read much of what I have written prior to my motherhood years, but I hope to do so someday and enjoy it.

9. I let Wesley and Austin take turns sleeping in my bed with me when Jared is out of town, often moving them into the bed after they have already fallen asleep in their own bed. I enjoy having a warm body next to me (even with earplugs in). Helps me not feel as scared at night.

10. I love most pringles. I like to lick them and then chew them slowly. I used to crunch them up and then pour the crumbs into my mouth from the canister. Weird! Who does that?

11. I hit the gym 5 x's a week at 4:25am. I have found that the dark morning hours are my best time to stay focused and really start my day out right.

12. I didn't find my real testimony of Jesus Christ until I was in the MTC...despite being a "two times a day seminary goer" in High School and on Institute Council at SUU. I really started to understand the gospel principles and meanings once I memorized the charlas and started to "teach" other people those things.

13. I am very inflexible. I can touch my toes only on a good day. Yoga would do me a lot of good.

14. I consider myself a very "average" kind of gal. Everything I do is never amazing or poor. For example: my piano or flute skills, cooking, speaking Spanish, decorating, teaching or cleaning. I feel like I do a good job at most things, but not a perfectionist by any sort...or really someone that people would want to ask for my secrets of "how do you do that?" I figure if I can do a lot of things, that will help keep me well-rounded, even if I am not an expert at really anything! ha!

15. We are pregnant! After a year of trying...if all goes well baby will come end of July. I am in my peak of sickness, vomiting and irritability. Let the good times roll. We are super duper excited....maybe it will finally be a girl? (see prior posting below)

sick sick sick

While I am feeling okay....better blog this....

Most days I feel like a slug.

Slow moving, soft, unmotivated, pale and just want to slip away into a corner.

Eleven weeks along. I am so sick. Stomach churning. Nausea all day long. No relief.

Hate smelling the fridge...which is empty b/c I can't go grocery shopping.

I stand as far away from the pantry door so I don't have to look at the items inside.

I can eat lunch...then comes 1:30pm. The churning begins. Metallic flavor in my mouth. Aches.

Somehow manage to get my afternoon obligations done (tutoring, picking up Isaac, getting dinner set up; spaghetti, mac n cheese, or order pizza...all I can do right now), then lay to die on the couch.

Dinner always comes up in the toilet. I am a mess by 8pm.

Things I hate about throwing up:

I usually pee myself
Food gets caught behind my top retainer
If I don't drink water beforehand, the moist chunks are like bread trying to crawl up my throat
I never know when it's going to hit
Splattering all over my face, chin and hair
Having to clean up the spots off of the toilet lid

Beginning to dry heave...better stop writing this now.

Piano lessons

I have starting teaching piano lessons! So far, I have 6 students. Four come on Friday afternoon (since I don't tutor on Fridays, I can be home by 3:30pm), and two on Saturday morning. I am so excited to dive into the same piano series I used while learning the piano.

I took piano lessons for only 2 years; grades 2-4. But, b/c my mom had a piano, I was able to plunk down some notes and continued to play hymns for early morning seminary throughout high school.

I definitely wouldn't consider myself advanced, or a prodigy child. But, I can read music at an intermediate level, and feel confident in my teaching abilities for a beginner student.

It's a great match. I love teaching. I love piano. I love young students. Perfect!

Here are pics from the night be bought the piano off of Craigslist. A Baldwin upright for $550. not bad. Tim and Jared brought it in and Austin and I took our first pics. I look forward to re-decorating my piano room with fun accent colors.

Birthday boys

With three birthdays within three weeks of each other, Jared 31 (12/27) , Wesley 7 (12/30) and Isaac 2 (1/16) can now share a birthday bash! Choice of place? Amazing Jakes in Mesa.

We met up with los primos, and pretty much never saw Wesley or Austin again. Of course we followed them around the play land and shoved lunch down their throats as quickly as we could, but they were in heaven!

I did my best to get lots of fresh air (too many smells of pizza, sweat, children and germs) to not get more nauseous then I already was.

We stayed for many hours, had a snowball fight that Pipa brought from Eagar, hit up the Dump just for fun (one of Jared's favorite furniture stores), and then headed back home where I moaned all the way from a sour tummy.

Words to describe my birthday boys:

Jared: thorough, hard working, handsome, friendly, masculine and loyal
Wesley: athletic, competitive, affectionate, smart and energetic
Isaac: independent, giggly, chunky thighs, silly, learning to pray and talk, "No, go, shoes, tank u, bebe,

Lake Pleasant Camping

We took our new 5th wheel trailer out to Lake Pleasant with Armando and Aleesha Bake on New Year's Day. It was a ton of work and a ton of fun. I had no idea how much preparation it take to stock up with linens, food, water tanks, cleaning supplies, etc...using ALL of it...and then unloading it all from the trailer! With the 5th wheel hitch on Jared's Big White Truck, I know that Jared now feels like a real man with his cowboy toys :)

The weather was really nice, except for the night time wind that blew so hard I thought our trailer might tip over and squish our boys who were sleeping outside in a tent. Poor Aleesha and I got NO sleep as we were tending to our babies. We both were thinking, "Dawn can't come soon enough. When will it be 6am?" No one ever sleeps well when you are camping!

We did hot dogs and s'mores for dinner, and the adults played cards with sparkling cider inside after the kids FINALLY fell asleep. We had a fun morning hike after donuts, and the boys loved throwing rocks into the lake. The Bakes are always great company and it was a spontaneous adventure having them come with us!

Hopefully this will be the first of many memorable camping trips with our boys...and hopefully I will someday sleep better than what I have done these last two trips with a baby in tow.
